Hi Mitch, Great Photo. You may be interested to know that this particular Healey Silverstone was bought by the British rally driver Betty Haig on 8th Sept 1950 and driven by her in the 1951 Paris St Raphael Rally. The car was exported to America in 2006 but I have no idea where it is now. I am shortly to publish Betty's biography - light blue was her favourite colour!

Thank you Roger that's very interesting. I saw this car at a car show near my home in Lake Tahoe a few summers ago and just fell in love at first sight. If you ever come back to this image and are interested in a photo drop me a email.

Triumph’s technical chief in the 1930s, he established his own sports car business immediately after the Second World War, and a whole family of sports saloons, drop-head coupés and two-seaters evolved around the same chassis. The Silverstone, of which only 105 cars were ever made, was the most sporty of all.

The chassis was a simple, but rigid, box-section design, with a 102 in (2591 mm) wheelbase, which featured trailing-arm/coil spring independent front suspension. Although originally intended to use Triumph running gear, (Healey tried to sell the rights to his one-time employer), it was finally powered by the impressive twin high-camshaft Riley 2.5-litre engine, whose 104 bhp output was among the highest of all early post-war British cars. Backed by a Riley gearbox and rear axle, this was a...

My wife calls my camera our fourth child because it goes with us everywhere we go.This would explain the wide variety of photography on my site. After living in the Lake Tahoe Basin for more than 20 years an early disability retirement forced me to move down from the harsh winters of the high sierras to find a more tempered climate . This has opened up new photography opportunities for me and I am looking forward to new things and areas of interest to photograph.I hope you enjoy my site and please leave comments. My work has been featured in the United States And Europe .Magazines such as Happinez, Back Country and also used by the Smithsonian Chanel Missing Evidence program. My work has also been commissioned by several artists for...
