Description
In 1931 a 100k-gallon water tower was constructed in the Sacramento shop yard. The water tower was designed and manufactured by Chicago Bridge & Iron Works, a Chicago based company that originally focused on bridge design and construction but soon realized the need for high-capacity liquid storage containers in the oil and railroad industries.
The Railyards water tower held a tremendous amount of pressurized water that provided a constant water supply for the operation as well as the shop yard’s internal fire department.
